The Space:

Welcome to your private hillside retreat in Cuesta Grande, just 15 minutes from Playa Sámara and an easy drive to the beaches of Carrillo and the Nicoya coast. This cheerful three-bedroom home is designed for families and groups who want space, nature, and a big private pool rather than a crowded resort.

The property sits on a fully fenced and gated lot with mountain and park-like views, a large saltwater pool, outdoor kitchen and rancho, and direct access to nature right from the backyard.

Inside, you’ll find comfortable king and queen beds, a bathtub (rare in Costa Rica rentals), strong fans and A/C where you need it, and everything needed for a relaxed, social getaway.

Layout & Sleeping

  • 3 bedrooms total
    • 1 California King bed
    • 1 full-size sleeper sofa
  • Bed configuration:
    • 1 King bed
    • 2 Queen beds
    • 2 sofa beds (great for kids, teens, or extra adults)

There are 3.5 bathrooms, including indoor bathrooms and two outdoor showers, so everyone has space to rinse off after the pool or beach.

Sleeps up to 4 guests comfortably, with the King bed for primary sleepers and the sleeper sofa ideal for children, friends, or an additional adult.

Indoor & Living

  • Bright, open living areas with comfortable seating
  • A bathtub in one of the bathrooms – perfect for families with kids or anyone who wants a proper soak after a day in the sun
  • Wi-Fi (~25 Mbps) – enough for streaming, email, and lighter remote work
  • Fans and A/C in key areas to keep the house comfortable

Kitchen, Outdoor Rancho & Pool

One of the best parts of this property is how much time you can spend outside:

  • Large private saltwater pool (open 24 hours, all year)
  • Outdoor kitchen and rancho with shade – great for grilling, lounging, and watching the mountains while you relax by the pool
  • Plenty of space for kids to swim, adults to lounge, and everyone to hang out together

Inside you’ll also find a full kitchen with what you need for everyday meals: stove, fridge, basic cookware, dishes, and utensils.

Nature, Wildlife & Setting

This home sits in a quiet, small development in Cuesta Grande with only about twelve houses in the area and just a couple of neighbors sharing the entry gate.

You’ll be surrounded by nature and wildlife:

  • Seasonal cicadas that appear once a year
  • Families of black-faced howler monkeys that move through the canopy
  • Occasional lizards and reptiles of different sizes

If you love nature, tropical sounds, and a more wild setting, you’ll feel right at home. If you’re very afraid of bugs or wildlife, this might not be the right fit – this is real Costa Rica, not a sealed hotel box.

You’re welcome to:

  • Walk down the riverbed and explore the property’s lower areas
  • Pick bananas or plantains from the small orchard when in season
  • Sit under the rancho and just soak in the mountain and pool views

Access & Parking

  • You’ll have full access to the entire fenced, gated property during your stay
  • Free on-site parking inside the gate
  • Self check-in via keypad – your code and directions are provided before arrival
  • Please keep entry driveways clear at all times in case of emergencies

Location – Cuesta Grande, 15 Minutes from Sámara

You’re close enough to the coast to enjoy beach days and town life, yet far enough to have peace, space, and stars at night:

  • Easy drive to other nearby beaches on the Nicoya Peninsula
  • Quiet local roads and a calm, residential setting

Most guests use this home as a base for a beach-and-pool vacation: day trips to Sámara and Carrillo, then afternoons and evenings back at the house with the pool and rancho.

FAQ

How far is the house from grocery stores and places to buy supplies?

The home is in Cuesta Grande, so it feels private and rural, but you’re still a short drive from town. Plan on about 10–20 minutes by car (depending on which direction you go) to reach larger supermarkets, ATMs, pharmacies, and other shops in Sámara / Nicoya. Most guests do a “big shop” on the way in, then top up with quick trips as needed.

Do I need a 4x4 vehicle to get to the property?

You don’t strictly need a 4x4 in the dry season; a standard rental car is usually fine. However, roads in the area can be steep, gravel, and muddy in the rainy season, so a vehicle with decent clearance (SUV/4x4) is more comfortable and gives you more confidence exploring nearby beaches and towns.

Is the house suitable for young children or older family members?

Yes, many families stay here, but it’s important to note:

The pool is unfenced, so young children must be supervised at all times.

There are outdoor stairs, uneven ground, and natural areas around the property that might be challenging for guests with very limited mobility.
If you’re traveling with small kids or older relatives, it’s a great spot as long as everyone is comfortable with a more natural, ranch-style environment and you keep an eye on little ones near the pool and outdoor areas.

Is this a good spot for small gatherings or celebrations?

Yes, the house works very well for quiet family gatherings, friend trips, or low-key celebrations by the pool and under the rancho. However, it is not a party house. Out of respect for neighbors and the shared entry road, we ask guests to:

Keep music and noise at reasonable levels, especially at night.

Avoid bringing in outside crowds beyond the registered guests.
If you’re planning something special (birthday, reunion, etc.), let us know in advance so we can confirm it fits within the house rules.
